Guest Stuby Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 I stumbled across this site tonight and joined instantly, looking for answers to why my cruise control initially starting loosing speed and a few weeks later won't switch on at all. I have a 2001 Ghia Galaxy 2.3 petrol. I have seen the FAQ's and it seems I certainly need to check the vacuum hose behind the left hand indicator. However my indicators are all built in to the headlamp unit itelf, so I assume I have to take out the entire headlamp to get to the vacuum hose ? I assume the beam would then need re-aligning or I saw someone soemwhere on this forum, saying you can get to it under the wheel arch by removing the 9 screws that hold the wheel arch under seal on.. Can someone confirm I have my facts right before I start tinkering. I am not stupid, but indeed am not a mechanical genius in any way, shape or form . Thanks guys !!! Quote

seatkid Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 IIRC :D The brake switch is actually two switches (in one housing). It can break/go out of adjustment such that both switches don't work or only affecting only one switch. One switch operates the brake lights, the other is connected to the ECU and is used by the CC. More likely to be the hose though.... Quote

Masked Marauder Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Remove the headlamp assembly, leave the bottom two screws in though, just loosen them enough to remove it. The assembly is a complete unit and just goes back in how it came out, no need to realign. Quote
